- Wood: Pear
- Height: 8"
- Width: 9"
- Weight: 3 lbs.
This pear yarn bowl is uniquely designed to feature the beauty of the wood’s natural contours while securely holding multiple balls of yarn as you knit or crochet.
This is quite a rare yarn bowl as it's very difficult to get pear wood of this size or deep color.
(Despite every effort to accurately depict each product's color, actual colors may vary. Also, all naturally occurring cracks have been filled or sealed to maintain the integrity of the wood.)
What Goes into Making a Natural-Edge Wooden Yarn Bowl?
Rarely will you find another workshop making wooden yarn bowls as individually unique as ours. While there are many artists creating yarn bowls out of all types of materials, we take exceptional pride in retaining the organic contours of the wood. This is a particularly difficult process, because keeping the natural-edge on the lip of the bowl requires much more skill and concentration than standard bowl turning.
Furthermore, we take the time to let our wood air-dry over several months to preserve the rich colors rather than speed up the process with kiln-drying, which can dull the wood's appearance.
It's always exciting to see how the wood "speaks to us." Each bowl's final shape is mostly decided, not by us, but by the wood. Our heirloom-quality yarn bowls are sure to be a treasure for you or a special knitter in your life.
