Cedar of Lebanon's Symbolism

The Cedar of Lebanon slabs that we have in stock were sustainably harvested from a historic tree located at Tyler Arboretum in Media, Pennsylvania. While the massive trunk was destroyed after the tree died in 2020, the limbs were saved and eventually found their way to southeast Iowa as part of an effort to rebuild a replica of an ancient Phoenician ship that sailed its way across the Atlantic in 2019.

The Cedar of Lebanon is a species of tree that is widely recognized for its cultural and religious significance. Throughout history, the Cedar of Lebanon has symbolized strength, durability, and longevity. In the biblical tradition, it is often mentioned as a symbol of prosperity, and is considered to be a sacred tree.

In ancient times, the wood of the Cedar of Lebanon was highly valued for its durability and was used to build palaces, temples, and ships. It was also used to make furniture, paneling, and other items of luxury.

It is also a symbol of the Lebanese people and their rich cultural heritage. The tree is depicted on the national emblem of Lebanon and is considered a national symbol of pride and resilience.

In contemporary times, the Cedar of Lebanon continues to be an important cultural and environmental symbol, representing the importance of conservation and the need to protect Lebanon's natural heritage.
